Perhaps we can use a illustration of a globe to symbolize sections or articles that are "global".

BTW, I like the changes you've done with the wiki so far.

Section template oddity?

There seems to be some differences between the section templates for the different games, I don't have time to look into it now, but someone please find out what (and fix it :). And please try to find out why there are suddenly huge spaces between the section templates! --iceheart 20:06, 12 July 2007 (CEST)

All sections have it

The more I think of it, the more I become sure that it is a side effect of the CSS "fix" we introduced to stop images from floating into other sections. The "fix" implied that all section headings would be placed below floating elements like images so images can never run into the next section.

In this case, the [edit] links are floating elements as well, and the sections will draw below them, hence the extra whitespace. (Pages with no [edit] links don't showcase this behaviour, which is logical.)

Undoing the fix and introducing some {{clearsections}} template (with the same function) might solve it...

On a non-related note, did anyone notice how only the D3Section and Q4Section templates define sections while the other's don't? There is also no way to specify the "section depth" for those templates. Therefore I'm going to experiment a little to see if it's not possible through some creative use of parameters. (Eg. so it would list in the TOC as 3.1 or 4.2.1) -Kamikazee 22:26, 12 July 2007 (CEST)

Sub-section support and modified note template

I explained the use of the refurbished section templates in the main article. It should be obvious that you can now use them wherever you want without having section nesting troubles. (The magic behind it all is some template-parameter trickery I read about on Wikipedia.)

On to my actual problem. Currently, the note templates are indented, like this one:

Image:D3square_25.png Doom 3:
Blah.

This seems to cause a few anomalies with page layout:

  1. When placing a note beneath a list, (eg. Texturing#Material_shaders) the note looks to be part of the list because it is indented as well.
  2. When placing it in the middle of a text, the indentation may make it seem as if the note always applies to the text right above it. (Which is not always true.)

I currently tried this for the Quake 4 note template:

Image:Q4square_25.png Quake 4:

Bleh

As you can see, the game text is no longer written in bold. The reason is that it would otherwise look too much like a heading when not indented.

However, now it doesn't like a note anymore, so I just thought of a newer version:

Meh

I'd say this one can be used, but I want to know if it is alright to modify all other templates. Please tell me what you think. -Kamikazee 18:01, 21 July 2007 (CEST)

That looks fine to me. Go right ahead. --Rich 00:28, 23 July 2007 (CEST)
