Does this subject warrent it's own article?
I would think that a simple explanation of decals in the patch article would be sufficient. I can't really see why decals warrent their own article.

- I think any independent topic that might reasonably be researched by a user should have its own article. Although decals are applied via patches, they are conceptually distinct, and a novice user would not necessarily associate "a Bezier surface defined by multiple control points" with "a discrete image layered over existing geometry to add detail".
- I agree that in its current form the article is not very informative, however. OrbWeaver 13:34, 15 November 2005 (W. Europe Standard Time)
Something like a decal might be best suited to a procedural tutorial. A decal is made up of things like specific material parameters applied to a patch, with certain helpful tricks (like inverting the colors to make it look wet). So it's not really something specifically a part of the engine, but it's more of a technique that is the product of other things. -parsonsbear
This article should stay.
I definitely think this article should stay, with a section on the general concept of a decal, how it looks, what it can't do, how to do the texture, the material shader, how to place one in the editor, etc. Just having a "concept" or a "tutorial" on a subject is rarely good enough and a mix is best. I see no reason for this article to be removed or incorporated somewhere else either, as someone said, if it's a likely search term then it should have an article of its own. --iceheart 19:52, 15 November 2005 (W.
